Snacks and Lunch

At Cholsey Pre-School we know children benefit physically and emotionally from eating healthily, and as their adults we need to make sure we provide them with healthy food, snacks and drink. We have produced a snack and lunch guide for you to read as well as providing you with information for you to view at your leisure.

Please be aware that choking is a hazard amongst early years children so please do look at this guide.

Healthy eating also contributes to good oral health, sadly this is on the decline in early years children, but along with the advice given and our Healthy Smiles training we hope to be able to combat this with the children who attend Cholsey Pre-School.

Children are eating three times more sugar than they should, over half of the sugar is coming from unhealthy snacks and sugary drinks.

NHS Better Health, healthy families is helping families choose healthier snacks. They have created resources for schools and leaflets to take home to help everyone be aware of the concerns with to much unhealthy snacks.

Snack smart!

Too much sugar can lead to harmful fat building up inside and serious health problems, including painful tooth decay.

Fruit and vegetables are always the best choice, but if you’re shopping for packaged snacks for your children, use this helpful tip: look for 100 calorie snacks, two a day max!
